Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an appointment to have my taxes prepared?
No. Most clients use our drop-off or secure portal option, which is the most efficient way to have your return prepared. In-person appointments are limited and reserved for special circumstances.

What is the best way to get my documents to you?
We recommend using our secure Client Portal or dropping off documents at our office. Both options allow us to prepare your return efficiently and accurately. *We do not accept confidential documents to our email inbox

How long does it take to prepare my return?
For drop-off or portal submissions, the typical turnaround time is 7–10 business days, depending on volume and complexity. Mail-in returns may take longer.

Do you prepare both individual and business returns?
Yes. We prepare individual tax returns as well as a variety of small business and self-employed returns.

Is the client portal safe?
Yes. Our portal uses encrypted, password-protected technology. Only you and our authorized staff can access your information.

Do I have to be tech-savvy to use the portal?
Not at all. The portal is simple to use, and our team can guide you if needed.

What happens to my documents after my return is finished?
A digital copy of your completed tax return is stored securely in your portal for future reference.

Can I still drop off paper documents if I don’t want to upload?
Yes. Paper drop-off is always an option if you prefer not to upload documents.

When do I pay for my tax preparation?
Payment is due once your return is completed and reviewed, prior to e-filing.

How do I review and approve my return?
We’ll notify you when your return is ready. You can review, sign, and approve filing in-person or review and approve digitally using the Client Portal.

How will I receive my finished tax return?
You may receive a printed copy, a digital copy through the portal, or both — whichever you prefer.

How can I track my refund?
Use the official IRS or state websites to check your refund status. Links are available on our “Track Your Refund” page. Refund processing times are determined by the taxing authority and are the responsibility of the taxpayer.

Why is my refund delayed?
Common reasons for refund delays include:

  • Missing or incomplete information
  • IRS or state review or audit selection
  • Refund offset due to unpaid taxes, child support, or federal/state debts
  • High-volume processing periods, especially early in the season
  • Choosing a paper check instead of direct deposit

Other Common Questions

What documents should I bring or upload?
We provide a checklist each tax season. Generally, this includes income documents, prior-year returns, and records of deductions or credits.

What if I’m missing a document?
Let us know. We can often determine whether it’s required or if alternatives are available.

Do you offer tax advice during the year?
We are not licensed financial advisors and ongoing tax planning or advisory services may be available separately by referral.
Please contact us to discuss your needs. How certain financial decisions affect your tax liability is what we specialize in.

What if my return needs changes after it’s filed?
If an amendment is required, we’ll walk you through the process and any next steps we can take.  Our office processes amendments at the end or after tax deadline.  Tax payers have up to three (3) years to amend their taxes.  If your original return was eFiled/processed and you owed money to either the IRS or State – be sure to follow through and pay your dues before the tax deadline.  When we do your amended return, if a credit is due then they will credit your bank account once the amendment is accepted and processed.

Why should I use the portal instead of an in-person appointment?
Using the portal is faster, more secure, and more efficient. Most clients complete their returns without needing to come into the office, disrupting their schedules, etc.
